Private vs small-group tours
A private tour means the vehicle, the guide and the itinerary are yours. You leave camp when you want, sit where you want, and stay with a lion sighting as long as you like. It is the right choice for photographers, families and anyone who dislikes being on somebody else's clock.
A small-group tour shares a 4x4 with up to five other travellers on a set route and set dates. It costs meaningfully less and suits solo travellers and couples who want company.

The tours people book most
The classic first trip is the Masai Mara paired with either Amboseli (for elephants against Kilimanjaro) or Lake Nakuru (for rhino and flamingo). Repeat visitors usually add Samburu in the north for the dry-country species you cannot see further south, or finish on the coast at Diani or Watamu.
- 3 days: Masai Mara only — the shortest trip that still works.
- 5 days: Masai Mara + Lake Nakuru, road transfers throughout.
- 7 days: Masai Mara + Amboseli + Nairobi, one internal flight.

What is and is not included
Our quotes include park fees, accommodation on full board, a 4x4 with pop-up roof, fuel, your guide-driver's fees and all government taxes. They exclude international flights, Kenyan visa, travel insurance, drinks beyond bottled water, balloon flights and tips.
We put the exclusions in writing on every quote. If an operator will not show you theirs, that is usually where the extra money appears later.
How the guides work
Every guide-driver we use is Kenyan, licensed, and has worked the parks we send you to for years. They are also mechanics, which matters more than it sounds when a road turns to mud in the Mara in April.

- How far in advance should I book a Kenya safari tour?
- Six to nine months for July–October or Christmas, when the good camps sell out. Three months is usually fine for the green season.
- Can you customise a tour?
- Yes — nearly every trip we run is adjusted. Send your dates, budget and must-sees and we will build the itinerary around them.
- Do tours start in Nairobi?
- Yes, almost all do, with a free pickup from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi hotel. Mombasa starts are possible for coast-first trips.
- What size group is a small-group tour?
- Maximum six people in a seven-seat 4x4, so everybody has a window and space for camera gear.
- Is a deposit required?
- Yes, 30% to confirm dates and hold camps, with the balance due before arrival.
