Budget packages use public campsites or simple tented camps just outside the parks, shared vehicles and set departure dates. Mid-range packages use comfortable lodges and permanent tented camps inside or bordering the parks with a private vehicle. Luxury packages use small owner-run camps and private conservancies where night drives and walking safaris are allowed.
The wildlife is identical across all three. What changes is comfort, privacy and how far you sleep from the animals.

How to compare two packages honestly
Two quotes that look $600 apart are often identical trips with different exclusions. Check the meal basis, whether park fees are in or out, whether the vehicle is private or shared, and whether the camp is inside the reserve or an hour's drive outside it — that last one costs you an hour of game viewing twice a day.

- On safari, yes — full board is standard because there is nowhere else to eat. On the coast, all-inclusive resorts are optional and often poor value if you want to explore.

- No. Almost every Kenyan operator quotes land-only; you book your own flights to Nairobi.
- Can two people book a package, or do you need a group?
- Two is fine. Private trips carry a small per-person premium at two; from four people the per-person cost drops sharply.
